Fiji Water Transitions to 100% Recycled Plastic Bottles in Canada
FIJI Water, a natural spring water from the Fiji Islands, is transitioning its best-selling 500 mL and 330 mL bottles to 100% recycled plastic in Canadian markets starting Winter 2023. The brand is significantly reducing plastic waste by replacing nearly 70% of their bottle volume worldwide with recycled material. Their plan is to transition FIJI’s entire bottle portfolio to recycled plastic by 2025.
“In our transition to recycled plastic, we aim to make a truly meaningful and lasting impact,” said Wai Mei Lee, Vice President of International, FIJI Water. “In using recycled plastic, we give new life to existing materials while maintaining the same great taste, look, and quality that consumers expect from FIJI Water.”
In addition to the transition to recycled plastic bottles, FIJI’s commitment to sustainability includes a $2.97 million CAD investment in energy efficiency initiatives on the Fijian islands, including the use of microturbine energy generation and the adoption of low-sulphur fuel standards for shipping.
These changes add to a list of incredible sustainability initiatives led by the FIJI Water Foundation and FIJI’s parent company, The Wonderful Company, helping to fight climate change.
