A&W Canada’s Burgers to Beat MS Day raised $1.8 Million!
Thursday, August 18th, 2022 was the 14th annual Burgers to Beat MS Day hosted by A&W Canada in partnership with MS Society of Canada.
$2 from every Teen Burger sold on Burgers to Beat MS Day was donated to the MS Society of Canada. A&W patrons were also provided the option to round up their bill at the till, make a donation online, or participate on social — for every photo of any M’s or S’s social media users saw, covering the letters with a burger emoji, and tagging @awcanada, A&W donated $2 to the MS Society of Canada.
Burgers to Beat MS Day also had the support of Olympic gold medalist and Canadian women’s national soccer team captain, Christine Sinclair, whose mother and childhood soccer coach was diagnosed with MS. Christine has participated in the fundraising day for 6 consecutive years.
“My mom was an incredibly strong woman, and she will forever be my inspiration,” says Christine Sinclair. “My involvement supporting the Burgers to Beat MS fundraiser for the last six years has been something I look forward to each year, as I know how crucial raising funds and awareness for MS in Canada is. Thank you, Canada, for showing up and making this year’s campaign another outstanding success — it means a lot to people living with MS and their loved ones, like me.”
A&W Canada beat their fundraising goal of $1.5 million, raising a total of $1.8 million in support of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.
Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with over 90,000 Canadians living with the disease, making it the most common neurological disease affecting young adults in Canada. Since 2008, A&W has raised over $19 million to support Canadians living with MS, making them the single largest annual corporate fundraiser for the MS Society of Canada.
