At this popular Malaysian restaurant, start with an order of the roti canai, which comes with two flaky and delicately sweet pieces of flatbread and a curry sauce. Then gorge on char kway teow, a stir-fried rice noodle dish from the streets of Malaysia. Seasoned with fish sauce and oyster sauce, this dish comes loaded with sliced fish cake, prawns and Chinese sausage.

The lychee and pineapple chunks provide a gentle and contrasting sweetness.

This cash-only joint specializes in bún bò Huế, a soup-based noodle dish that originates from Huế in central Vietnam. The fiery red soup base made from chilli oil, lemongrass and beef and pork bones envelops a bundle of thick vermicelli noodles, and the dish is topped with tender sliced beef, chả lụa (a pork sausage wrapped in banana leaves) and pork hock.
