National Hot Chicken Day has it’s origins in Nashville, Tennessee and was created by the family of Andrew Prince Jeffries, owner of Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack. As the story goes, in the 1930s Thornton Prince’s girlfriend, a woman scorned, created Prince a supper spicy fried chicken breakfast when she became upset with over another woman. As it turned out, Prince loved the hot-tempered helping, that he soon opened a chicken shack to sell the spicy fried chicken.

Nowadays, hot chicken has gone global and most cusiines offers a vareity of spicy chicken on their menus. If you have a pepper-mouth, you should definitely try hot chicken from any of these ten takeout spots…if you dare!

If you’re looking for Hot Chicken in Prince Edward Island, the Nashville Hot Chicken at Salt and Sol is a sweet and spicy breaded chicken topped with all the trimmings and served on a toasted brioche. Turns out they did it right!
