French Baguette gains UNESCO World Heritage Status
The most popular variety of bread consumed in France throughout the year, The French Baguette, has officially been inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The induction took place during a UNESCO Committee meeting in Rabat, Morocco between November 28th to December 3rd 2022. According to UNESCO, the “Artisanal know-how and culture of baguette bread” has been officially inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Meanwhile, Euronews reports that “Every day, 12 million French people buy a baguette. That’s 320 baguettes per second!”
It’s clear the quintessential French bread never fails to “rise” to the occasion becoming synonymous with the French way of life.
